Welcome to "THAT" Kids' Company

  What's new....?

April 2009

NH Governor, John Lynch  gave Max a Proclamation declaring:

MAY-New Hampshire Celiac Disease Awareness Month.

Flyers were posted in Grocery Stores, Doctors Offices, Schools and more in the month of May to help raise awareness and save lives! Many companies and organizations in the state of NH will be helping with this effort.

2010 will be even BIGGER! If you'd like to help, send us an E-mail.

May 2009

Max was introduced at the Celiac Disease Foundation's National Convention in Pasadena, CA by Elaine Monarch.

Summer/Fall 2009

Max will be completing his Eagle Scout Leadership Project. His project is a Community Education and Awareness Project about Celiac Disease. The Project will consist of a Live Presentation (powerpoint and video production). Each participant will leave with both a brochure and copy of the Presentation to help educate others. The Presentation will then be available on the Celiac Disease Foundations Website. Look for it there!

The Gluten Detectives

Video Game for People on Restricted Food Diets

And More!

Here are some of our goals:

*We would like to introduce our club idea to all elementary school aged kids.

*We would like to help raise awareness of food-restricted diets, not just Celiac Disease.

* Raise awareness of what Celiac Disease is, as Celiac Disease is misdiagnosed for many other things and this is totally unnecessary.

*Help other children and adults understand that “FUN” doesn’t always need to involve food.

*Help others develop a strong positive ATTITUDE about their restrictive diets and hold the health benefits above the sad feelings that can be present sometimes.

*Provide information to the public about the different ways that they can help to be compassionate towards people like us.

*Provide information to people on restrictive diets, that anger towards people who do not understand is understandable but unnecessary. At the present time the general population has not been educated about these concerns. We hope to help change this.

*We hope to help others understand that expecting people who are not on restricted diets to “STOP” eating in front of us is very unrealistic and can cause bad feelings. Again, this is all in the ATTITUDE!

*Provide ideas, hints and “tricks” on helping ourselves and others make parties, special occasions and everyday easier for kids like me without too much trouble. By helping others find non-food alternatives to games, rewards and surprises. Not to say that no food will be present, that won’t happen, but from time to time it would be healthier for everyone in the world, not just kids like me to only have one or two food treats at parties instead of bags full.

*We would like to print up posters about our club idea to post at Doctor’s offices and other places like schools and libraries.
